A Fall Day at Story Land

Last Saturday Howie and I finally got a chance to take our nephew to Story Land in Glen New Hampshire. We bought him the tickets for one of his Christmas gifts last year. It was a beautiful day. It felt like July instead of late September. It was about 83 degrees in the North Conway area. The sky was bright blue and the foliage was already starting to turn colors.
When we got to Story Land, we had a game plan. Tommy wanted very much to go on the Turtle Twirl ride. We were heading for the turtles until he saw Dr. Geyser's Remarkable Raft Ride. The boys went and got into the line and I made myself comfortable on a bench and I waited. I'm pretty sure this ride always has the longest line. So I kept myself busy people watching and taking random photos.

It was pretty boring! Soon I spotted the guys getting onto the ride and I got ready with my camera.

Notice that arm? There is a photographer statue that squirted water on them! I believe that is why Howie is leaning away like that.

They got soaked!

Next Tommy wanted to go on the Bamboo Chutes. I told them to run ahead and get into the line while I took some scenery photos of the Park.

and the final drop...

The line wasn't too long so Tommy asked to go again. This time he was in the back.

Notice that white dome shaped building? It sort of looks like a white umbrella. Its the Loopy Lab. You can shoot balls around at people and feed them into vacuums that spit them out. kids love it. When I was a kid it  used to be the coolest ride. It was called Voyage to the Moon. I found a video on youtube about it. Its pretty long, but if you remember the ride you might be interested in seeing it.

After the Bamboo Chutes, Tommy wanted to play at the Oceans of Fun Sprayground. There is a submarine looking thing with a big Octopus on top of it. Inside, at each end, you can control sprayers and spray water at people outside. He loves that!

IMG_8813

Next stop was the Turtle Twirl. They got to go on that twice because there was no one in line. I suspect that Tommy's love for The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has something to do with why he likes this ride so much?

IMG_8821

hmmm.... they look a little green!

IMG_8823

As they were twirling I noticed a wooden structure behind the ride that I never noticed before. It was the new Roar-O-Saurus Roller Coaster.

My creation

There wasn't a good spot to get any photos of the ride. Instead I found a video of it on youtube!

Tommy wanted to play Dino Dash. It was a skee ball type of race. If you got the ball into certain color coded holes your dinosaur would move so many spots...

He won a slap bracelet.

Another favorite of Tommy's is a pretty new ride called Splash Battle: Pharaoh's Reign
. The Ride is basically little boats that float around in a circle. On the boat you have canons that shoot water at people while they are shooting water at you. You get drenched either way.

Tommy shooting water at the boats... I tried to keep my distance since my camera was NOT SAFE around this ride!

They went on the Polar coaster next but I went and sat down and drank my drink. I didn't get any pictures of them but I found a POV video of the ride.

I took this while I waited for them to finish the Polar Coaster.

Howie and Tommy both got locked up.

IMG_8882

I thought about leaving them in there! I needed Howie to drive us home so I bailed them out.

IMG_8884

We visited the Three Little Pigs, Billy Goats Gruff and other storybook animals.

The Last ride he went on was Alice's Tea Cup ride.

He was late. For a very important date...

IMG_8892

I asked him to make a "girly face" and this is what I got...

IMG_8897

He thought about moving into a pumpkin house

Stuck his head out of a pie

IMG_8900

He stopped and read this to us and told us that his little brother has a toy that plays this song

IMG_8902

The guys are terrified of spiders and do not blame Miss Muffett for running away!

Mary Had a Little Lamb and this is her school

IMG_8911

He visited the Three Bears House because they were out

IMG_8915

He met and assaulted the old woman in the shoe ( He gave her a little too hard of a high five) but she was cool and gave him a hug and a sticker.

We got free passes to go back next year. Hopefully next year we can spend the night because driving up and back in one day is very tiring. The Park closed at 5 pm so we headed for Jackson to see how pretty the area looked. We drove by some cows we have seen several times in the past. We told Tommy that Howie was friends with a cow named Reginald.

We were losing light fast so we said goodbye to Reginald and the rest of the cows.
Tommy seemed like he had a lot of fun!
